Three ties were played and all produced an identical score line of 5-2! On Tuesday evening Cirencester Town Dev went out of the Competition to Premier Division side Cheltenham Saracens after taking the lead for a brief spell in the first half. Saracens opened the scoring after 15 minutes through Jamie Hammond but Cirencester struck back with two goals in three minutes as George Williams equalised in the 35th minute and Jamie Dunn put the One WEST side ahead after 38 minutes. The lead was short lived as Iain Sercombe levelled for Saracens two minutes later and Simon Slender then put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half time. Saracens proved to be the stronger side in the second period, adding two further goals through a 57th minute own goal and Lorcan Sheehan struck number five a few minutes from time.
Thatcham Town were three up at the break against a changed Highworth Town side. Sam Hamilton got the first in the 13th minute and the lead was doubled by Shaun Thorp in the 28th minute. Jemel Johnson made it 3-0 with the first of his two goals a minute from the break. Although the Worthians improved in the second period, it was too late to save the tie. Charlie Grabe pulled one back in the 48th minute with Tony Joyce adding a second on the hour Johnson knicked his second for Thatcham two minutes before. Chris Gerrard made it a five timer for Thatcham with a 70th minute strike.
It was the Ben Moses show at Court Place Farm as the prolific Nomads striker hit a four timer with two goals in each half. Moses netted the first after just seven minutes with Ashley Mitchell levelling for the Satsumas after 35 minutes. Three minutes later Moses made it 2-1 which became 2-2 just before the break when Neil Hanson restored parity.
A fine second half display saw Ben Moses score in the 49th minute for his hat trick and James Dobson made it 4-2 with 15 minutes to play. Moses capped his display with a fifth goal in the last minute.

Cheltenham Saracens 0-1 Shortwood Utd
Cheltenham Saracens welcomed their local rivals to Petersfield Park in this Bank Holiday special. Both teams having started the league in similar fashion level on 9 points each after 4 games. Shortwood with a healthy financial backing are looking to get promoted and have signed some key players throughout the summer period. This though doesnt guarantee success for which Saracens have appetite & sheer bloody mindedness along with quality players in abundance. Saracens welcomed back Sam Slender & Ian Sircombe thus allowing Spike Rhodes to push up front partnering Jamie Hammond. With Slender partnering 17 year old home debutant Ben Tunnicliff in central defence, Saracens took the game to Shortwood and should have scored as early as the 5th minute. Hammond racing clear from a Joe Birmingham pass shot early, off balance, and saw his shot slice wide. Saracens & Cleeve old boy Kevin Slack was showing his experience often dropping off deep to receive the ball and was a cause for concern. His shot in the 10 minute was well saved by Saracens goalie Ryan Betteridge. With the game being played at a frenetic pace Saracens should again have done better when Rhodes flicked on a high ball to Sircombe, he sent a first time ball over to the far post but Hammond judged it too late and the chance was wasted. This was to prove costly as Slack smashed a 30yarder into the top corner on the half hour. This was a sucker punch for Saracens but they didnt panic and still played some great football with Jack Oldham and Lorcan Sheehan brilliant in midfield.
HT: 0-1
The second half continued with both teams playing some good football on a bobbly pitch. Betteridge saving smartly again from Slack. The Saracens defence held out resolutely with Tunnicliff & Slender often dominating their forward opposition. Hammond so nearly got Saracens back into the game with a smart set piece involving sub Luke Tovey & MOM Jack Oldham. Oldham turning on a sixpence and with great vision, put Hammond through only to see his smart shot cannon off the post and away to safety. Tunnicliff so nearly had the dream game, from a succession of corners, Tunnicliffs smart movement in the box resulted in a far post header which the home fans rose expecting to see the net burst but for a astonishing one handed full length save ended Tunnicliffs and Saracens dreams

THAME UTD 1-2 CHELTENHAM SARACENS
After their 7-1 demolition of Fairford during the week, it would have been understandable if saracens came out flying out of the blocks against Thame, but it was strangely a lack lusture 1st half by Gerry Oldham's saracens side. Maybe it was that saracens missing 4 or 5 players from the Fairford win was causing concerns but they allowed THAME UTD too much ball possesion early on and paid dearly when poor defending allowed UTD a free far post header to score after 20mins. Hammonds strong pace was causing UTD's defence alarms and panic for which Saracens were unlucky not to equalise when Hammond slamed a shot just wide. Saracens Lorcan Sheehan dominated the midfield and whenever he had the ball saracens always looked to threaten the UTD back line. Goalie Ryan Betteridge was the cornerstone of the saracens back line and commanded his area superbly, saving low on a couple occasions and handling well, along with all that UTD threw at the Saracens backline.
Half-time 1-0
Gerry Oldham made 3 changes at half-time bringing on midfielder Sam Mason, left back Tom Russell & u18s player centre back Ben Tunnicliff. these changes and stern words by Gerry Oldham galvanised saracens into a solid battling, but very deserving second half performance. Time and again saracens bombarded the Thame defence but for tight offside decisions and finishing saracens should have been clear of this game. In form Jamie Hammond grabbed saracens 1st goal outpacing the tiring UTD defence to finish superbly into the bottom corner. With the Saracens Joe Donaghue combining well with Russell, saracens should have done better with a 3 on 1 situation, poor commnunication cost saracens the chance. Saracens scored their second and what proved the winning goal when good work down the right by Jack Oldham & Mason resulted in a corner. Russell sent an in-swinging corner & under pressure by Hammond, the UTD keeper couldn't hold, and the ball fell nicely into the bottom corner.
Saracens withheld a late UTD blitz but the back line of Oldham, Tunnicliff, Mike Oliver & Russell held on for a well deserved win..
