Saracens 3 - 1 Charlton Rovers Blues Sunday 16th September Ko 2.30pm
Saracens kicked off their u15s league with a scrappy win. A much changed side from the last season's runners up, took time to settle and on a hard bumpy pitch not helped by a strong wind restricted Saracens normal flair of passing and possession game. Probing play by saracens resulted in their first chance when Mat Tennent shot across the goal where fellow striker Tom Cooper was inches short of an easy tap in. Louis Jordan playing his first league game for saracens since his summer move from Bredon was a rock in defense with Captain Luke Holder. Holder's experience in defense moped up any chance Charlton Rovers had and made sure Sara's keeper Sonny Martin had a quite first half. Tennent scored Sara's first with the goal of the game when he volleyed in from over and across his body from a Jamie Walker cross. Tom Cooper slotted in the second from closs range when a good passing move by Ben Lewis, Connor Harmer and Ryan Crosskey opened the opposition
defense. Tennet scored his second and Saracens third when he lashed in a 20yard shot from a great Crosskey through ball.
In the second half Saracens closed shop and went on the defensive resulting in a lack of flair and attacking play. Tennent should have scored his hat-trick from a hand ball penalty but shot poorly at the Keeper. Rovers scored their consolation goal when the Saracens defense went to sleep and conceded from a close range header.
Saracens 3 - 3 Southside Sunday 23rd September Ko 2.30pm
A much improved performance by Saracens against a strong Southside were denied a fine win from a Southside late equalizer. With 6 plus minutes added by a fussy referee Saracens found themselves hard done. Saracens came out the blocks firing and immediately put Southside under pressure. Crosskey smashed an early effort against the bar from fully 20yds. Cooper should have opened the scoring for Saracens but chose to pass instead of firing in. Tennent struggling with a knee injury sent over a great cross but Walker in a great position shot across the goal and wide. Ben Lewis & Connor Harmer was bossing the midfield and Harmer was unlucky when his shot swerved wide. Tom Tunnicliff, Lemeck Healy & Louis Jordan in defense kept the quick forwards of Southside quite and Sonny Martin in goal had only the one save to make in the first half. Cooper fired Saracens into the lead when a passing move by Lewis, Walker & Dan Mustoe sent Cooper through who fired in from distance. Ryan Crosskey soon added Saracens second when he fired into the roof of the net from a Walker pass. Southside got back into the game when they failed to mark from a free kick which resulted in a header giving Martin in goal no chance. In the second half Saracens were put under pressure by Southside and were lucky not to concede but for a great save by Martin. Mustoe won and took a free kick from just inside the Southside area and his ferocious shot flew into the top corner to put Saracens 3-1 up. Credit to Southside they kept probing and Saracens once more were guilty for not marking from a free kick. This resulted in an identical goal as the first for Southside to close the gap to 3-2. It looked like Saracens were going to hold on but for an alarming amount of time added on
Saracens 10 - 1 Southside Cubs Sunday 30th September Ko 11.00am "Friendly"
With 6 players missing from their last league game Saracens blew Cubs away with this powerful performance. Saracens welcomed back Lee Riley who featured for the first time this season. Excellent link up play by Luke Holder & Riley gave Saracens an early lead when Holder fired in from just outside the box. Taylor Davis then set Holder for number 2 who clinically finished from close in. Jamie Walker soon added number 3 for saracens when he curved in a fine shot. Walker notched his second and saracens 4th when he headed in from a corner. Ben Lewis and Connor Harmer both fired in from distance to give Saracens a 6-0 lead at half-time. After the break Saracens continued to take the game to Southside and scored immediately from the kick-off when Walker scored his hat-trick from a headed corner. Holder then scored Saracens 8th and also his hat-trick when Davis flicked on a header and Holder fired in superbly. Lee Riley got on the score sheet before running out of steam when he headed in from another corner and Crosskey sealed a fine performance when he smashed in number 10 from good play by James Bell. The defense of Richard Browning, James Bell, Louis Jordan & Ryan Crosskey were outstanding and although having a quite game in goal Sonny Martin was beaten for the only time when a breakdown in communication let in the Southside forward who lobbed Martin from just inside the area.
Saracens u15's 3-3 Cleeve Colts u15's October 14th 2007
Saracens played some great football in this u15's fixture and were unlucky not to come away with a win. In the first half going up hill on a hard bumpy pitch with long grass made it tough for Saracens but they stuck at it and excellent link up play by Luke Holder & Ryan Goby put Saracens 1-0 up through a Tom Cooper header. Cleeve then equalised when Saracens were guilty of not clearing their lines and allowed cleeve to score from close in. Saracens gave far too much ball away in Midfield and were guilty of needless long balls. Luke Holder soon made it 2-1 for the Saracens when Holder collected a fine though ball by Connor Harmer outpaced the cleeve defense and fired in superbly.
In the second half Cleeve put Saracens under pressure and equalised when again a Midfield mistke let cleeve through who gave keeper & Man of Match Sonny Martin no chance. Saracens again went 3-2 in front when a long ball desieved the cleeve keeper bobbled over his head and Harmer scored from close in. Saracens frustrations were not helped from somewhat strange referee decisions! these frustrations grew when a penalty was awarded when a cleeve player tripped over his own feet without a Saracens player near him! Sonny Martin saved the penalty and Saracens broke quickly but Goby was unlucky from a long range shot going just over. Cleeve equalised when defender Healy, found himself out of position this again from a silly mistake by Saracens. Guilt edge chances to both Cooper & Holder should have settled matters for Saracens but were off target from close range
Churchdown 5-3 Saracens
Saracens twice lead in this game only to concede stupied and needless goals. Poor defending throughout & the lack of ball possession condemned Saracens to their 1st defeat of the season. Capt Luke Holder fired Saracens ahead when he broke clear of the defense to calmly slot past the advancing goalie. It looked like Saracens were going to add a second but for a point blank miss from Ryan Goby. This was to make Saracens pay when a mistake in defense allowed the Chuirchdown forward to break clear and slot pass Sonny Martin in goal. Holder soon put Saracens ahead from a corner. Churchdown went back down the Saracens Defense and equalised soon after when a rebounded shot went against the post, it then cannoned off Martin in goal to creep over the line. Holder soon scored his hat-trick when he crashed in number 3 for Saracens.
In the second half Saracens played their worst football of the season and conceded 3 goals from clumsey and poor play.
